How long will it take to realize the interconnection of the national cities??

The "city card" is not a new thing, different cities have different names for it, for example, Fuzhou call it "Rongcheng card", Guangzhou call it "Yangcheng Tong, Hong Kong call I t" octopus ". It is popular among many people due to its convenience and interconnection; and people can’t live without it.

Let’s look at a set of data to see how big of a influence city card has ?

City card has a history of nearly 20 years; among the 660 cities, 67% of them (442 cities) have built city card systems; this means that city card has covered over half of the cities in the nation. The number of the issued cards has exceeded 750 million and there are 150 million interconnection cards among them.

 Because of its tiny size, large amounts, and frequent using, city card has become the essential motivation for China’s city information construction. It has also become an important part of the smart city construction because it can operate across industries and apply in many fields; however, the city card in China still faces huge challenges.

In accordance with the specific requirements of the new national urbanization plan (2014-2020), by 2020, China’s urbanization rate of the population will reach around 60%( about 800 million people); and the city card is expected to break the 1 billion issuance volume. At that time the interconnection of the city will become an essential function of the city card, therefore, the rapid growth of the number of the city card and a wide range of interoperability will become the main feature of the future city card.

Why city card interconnection has two sets of standards?

The department of housing construction was in charge of the earliest city card in China (because the department of housing construction was in charge of the city traffic), so the city card key system made by the department of housing construction was implemented by the IC card service center. In 2008, after the super-ministry reform, the department of transportation took over city transportation which was supervised by the department of housing construction before. From then on, the department of the transportation began to research on the city card business and regarded it as an important part of improving the transportation service quality. Thus, from the current market, there is a tendency that both the department of the construction and the department of the transportation are working on building city cards systems.

 

First, the department of construction: point to area, city cards of 72 cities

Counting from the date the two department promulgated the interconnection technology standards, it has been 6 years since the department of construction began to promote city card interconnection. In April 2010, the department of construction promulgated  a set of standards such as ‘technical requirements for the interconnection of urban public utilities’, the application of national city card has standards to follow.

According to the card standards issued by the department of construction, 72 cities which has realized city card interconnection scattered throughout the country, the radiation range is up to 23 provinces (including 2 municipalities, 1 autonomous regions and 1 special administrative regions)

Second, the department of transportation : from province to city, 41 city transportation card

It was in May 2014 that the department of transportation promulgated the ‘Urban public transport IC card technical specifications’and began to implement on July 15. According to the timetable of the city transportation card issued by the department of transportation, the interconnection work first started in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, the northeast, the Yangtze River Economic Belt in the middle and lower reaches of the city. So far, 41 cities around the country have issued the city transportation card with the mark of ‘ traffic union’ , covering 12 provinces in total. Judging from the development of standards, implementation, equipment transformation, issuance and so on, we have to say the progress that the department of transportation has made in promoting he interconnection is amazing

Fujian province has become the national transportation card interconnection model representative

In September 2015, the Fujian Traffic Card Co., Ltd. is founded, and signed the letter of intent with twelve other companies such as Fuzhou Rongcheng City Card Company, Xiamen company Ezlink Card. The mode of implementation is ‘parent company + subsidiary company’; and eight cities, Putian, Nanping, Ningde, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, Xiamen and Sanming, Longyan, has issued ‘traffic union’ interoperability card. This model become the representative of promoting the national transportation card.

As the saying goes, ‘First come, first served’.New Doone has launched series of city card products with the experience of building smart city.
